How the Numbers Are Estimated

Each calculator applies a widely used hair-color industry convention to whatever figures you enter — for example, the standard 10/20/30/40 developer-volume mapping, a 1:1 or 1:2 color-to-developer mix ratio, an average hair growth rate of about 1.25 cm per month, or a standard purple-toner ratio for neutralizing brassiness. These are general approximations based on common salon practice, not measurements of your specific hair, its porosity, or its color history. Real hair varies in how it takes color and how quickly it grows in ways a single formula can’t capture.

Where a Result Might Not Fit You

A calculator result is more likely to miss the mark if your hair has an unusual chemical history (previous perms, relaxers, keratin treatments, or repeated bleaching), an atypical growth rate, or you have a scalp sensitivity or allergy to a color ingredient. In any of these cases, treat the tool’s output as a starting point to discuss with a licensed colorist, not a final answer, and always patch-test a product before applying it broadly.
